Parramatta Park is one of eleven sites that form a serial nomination for World Heritage Inscription. The sites have been chosen for their ability to show the out standing universal values found in Austalia's convict history.

Getting there

Walking map of Parramatta

Parramatta City has produced a very good walking map of the city that makes navigating around the city and finding places of interest including within the park very easy. 

Bus, Train, and Rivercat

 

Parramatta Park is adjacent to the large commercial centre of Parramatta. It is an easy 15 minute walk from the Parramatta and Westmead Railway Stations and is well connected by rail, road and Rivercat. The Park Administration office is located near the Macquarie Street entrance of the Park.

The Parramatta bus terminal is located next to the train station, and is connected to the T-Way and many bus companies servicing surrounding suburbs and beyond. Phone 131-500 for up-to-the-minute information or check the following company websites.

the Loop Free City Bus

Parramatta's environmentally friendly and accessible free city bus connects tourists, residents and commuters to Parramatta Park. There are three convenient stops for Parramatta Park.

Stop 3 (Macquarie Street West near Jessie Street Centre) - is  convenient for the main Park gate, the Trust office, Rumsey Rose Garden and Old Government House.

Stop 4 (O'Connell Street) - is adjacent to the Swimming Centre and ideal for Old Kings Oval and the Government Farm/Racecourse areas on the northern riverbank.

Stop 5 (Leagues Club on O'Connell Street) - is an alternative stop for accessing the Parramatta Park Cafe & Event Centre via the river causeway.

Getting there by Train

 

Parramatta railway station is serviced by the Western (Emu Plains / Richmond - North Sydney) and Cumberland (Campbelltown - Blacktown) services. Suburban and Intercity trains depart frequently throughout the day. Please refer to the CityRail website or phone 131-500 for more details.

Getting there by Rivercat

 

The Sydney Rivercat departs wharf No 5 at Circular Quay, City. The Rivercat stops along the Parramatta River. From the wharf, turn left into Charles Street, then turn right and walk down George Street. The easy walk from the wharf to the George Street Gatehouse takes approx 15 minutes. Getting there by Car and Parking

 

Parking onsite is available during Park opening times. Please note parking signs such as 1P, 2P, and 3P which indicate parking bays. The maximum speed limit for vehicles is 30 km/h. Parking Stations are also found adjacent to the swimming pool in O'Connell St  and at the Administration building in the park. Parking meters operate in these locations and payment is required.
